Pixel art RPG character generator
Build a whole cast for your RPG or roguelike — party members, monsters, bosses and villagers — as game-ready sprites, then animate them for combat.
RPG characters made with pixler.dev

pixler.dev generates full-body pixel art RPG characters from a text description and animates them into sprite sheets. Describe a class and a look — "dwarf cleric with a warhammer and round shield", "skeleton archer in rusted chainmail" — and get a transparent sprite at 16 to 256 pixels. Then turn it into the moves an RPG needs: idle, walk, attack, cast, hurt and death, or a custom motion like "raises the staff and summons fire". Lock one palette across the party and the enemies so the whole cast looks like it belongs in the same game.
Party, enemies, bosses, NPCs
Knights, mages, rogues, rangers and clerics; slimes, goblins, skeletons and dragons; shopkeepers, guards and quest givers. Describe the class, gear and colors and get a full-body sprite with a readable silhouette at game scale.
Combat-ready animation
Animate any character with RPG presets — idle, walk, run, attack, cast, hurt and death — or describe a skill in your own words. Each animation is a transparent PNG sprite sheet of 2–16 frames, ready for a battle scene.
One look for the whole cast
Lock a palette such as NES, Game Boy or PICO-8 and save the style as a project, so the hero you make today matches the boss you make next week. Reference images help when you already have concept art for a character.
Animate characters you already have
Bought a character pack or drew your hero yourself? Upload the sprite and animate it with the same presets, so new and existing characters move the same way.
Frequently asked questions
What sizes work for RPG characters?
32×32 for classic overworld sprites, 64×64 for SNES-style battle sprites, 128×128 (the default) for modern indie RPGs and 256×256 for large bosses or showcase art.
Can it animate attacks and spells?
Yes. Use the Attack, Cast, Hurt and Death presets for combat, or pick Custom and describe the move — "swings the axe overhead", "drinks a potion", "raises the staff and summons fire".
Can it make 4- or 8-direction walking sprites for top-down RPGs?
Not yet. Characters are generated in one view, and the Turnaround preset spins a character in place. Separate 4/8-direction views are in progress on the public roadmap.
How do I keep the party and enemies consistent?
Lock one palette, keep one style and save it as a project. Every new character is then drawn into the same look. Several variations per prompt let you pick the closest match.
Does it work with RPG Maker, Godot and Unity?
Yes. Sprites and sprite sheets are standard transparent PNGs. Set the texture filter to nearest (Godot) or Point (Unity) and slice sheets by frame count.
Can my coding agent build the cast?
Yes. Connect Claude Code, Cursor or Codex through Pixler's MCP server and ask for the characters you need; the agent generates, animates and saves the PNGs into your project.
Can I use the characters in a commercial game?
Yes. Characters and animations generated on pixler.dev can be used in commercial games without attribution.
