Pixel Art Tileset Generator

Pixel art tileset generator

Describe two materials and get a complete tileset — every edge, corner and transition — ready to paint maps in Tiled or Godot.

pixler.dev generates pixel art tilesets for games from two short descriptions. Type "sandy beach" over "ocean water" and get a full set of terrain tiles with shorelines, inner and outer corners and an optional cliff; type "grass" over "packed dirt" for side-view platforms with a transparent background; or lay "cobblestone" paths across "meadow grass" with every turn, crossing and dead end. Tiles come at 16, 32 or 64 pixels and are generated so neighbouring tiles always line up. Change the edge shape, cliff height or tile size after generation for free, and download a PNG sheet, a Tiled tileset (.tsx) or a Godot TileSet (.tres) with the terrain rules already set.

Four kinds of tileset

Transition: two terrains seen from above, with every shoreline and corner and an optional cliff — beaches, islands, lava fields, snow over rock. Platforms: side-view ledges and floating blocks on a transparent background for platformers. Paths: roads and trails with turns, crossings and dead ends over a ground texture. Surface: one seamless texture that repeats in every direction.

Every edge and corner, aligned

The tiles are built from the two materials so the seams always match: outer and inner corners, straight edges, diagonals and variants of the plain fill, so a painted map does not repeat visibly.

Reshape it for free

Switch the edge between natural, smooth and blocky, raise or remove the cliff, thicken the platform top, widen the road or add a center line, and change the tile size between 16, 32 and 64 px — instantly, without spending credits or generating again.

Ready for Tiled and Godot

Download a PNG tile sheet, a Tiled tileset (.tsx) with the terrain set defined, a Godot 4 TileSet (.tres) with terrains ready for auto-tiling, or a zip of single tiles. Optional upscaling and extruded padding prevent seams in engines.

Frequently asked questions

What is a tileset generator?

It turns a description of the ground you want into a full set of tiles for building maps: not one texture, but every piece needed where two materials meet — edges, corners and transitions — so a level editor can paint terrain automatically.

Which tileset types can it make?

Top-down terrain transitions (with or without a cliff), side-view platforms for platformers, roads and paths, and single seamless surfaces such as floors, grass or water.

What tile sizes are supported?

16, 32 and 64 pixels. You can switch the size after generation for free; the same materials are redrawn at the new size.

Does it work with Tiled, Godot and Unity?

Yes. Export a Tiled .tsx or a Godot 4 .tres with terrains already set up for auto-tiling, or a PNG sheet and single tiles for Unity's Tile Palette, GameMaker, Phaser, LÖVE or any engine that reads PNGs.

How much does a tileset cost?

One credit per material: a two-material tileset costs 2 credits, a surface costs 1. Changing the shape or tile size and exporting again is free.

Can my coding agent generate tilesets?

Yes. The MCP server has a generate_tileset tool and an export tool, so Claude Code, Cursor or Codex can create a tileset and save the Tiled or Godot files into your project. The REST API exposes the same calls.

Can I use the tilesets in a commercial game?

Yes. Tilesets generated on pixler.dev can be used in commercial games without attribution.
